Criteria:
- MUST BE SUBMITTED BY THE DESIGNATED DATE AND TIME!
- All works (save fanfiction*) MUST be original
- *Only characters and short quotes may be taken from the fandom of origin, everything else must be original
- All content must be appropriate or display all corresponding warnings
- Literary Techniques
- Varied sentence structures/length
- Character development
- Engaging opening
- No sexual content or references
ALL SUBMITTED WORKS MUST BE CAREFULLY PROOF-READ!
EXPLICIT LANGUAGE:
As this website falls under the jurisdiction of School District 70, we ask you to moderate the language in your stories/poems to a family-friendly dialogue. However, we recognize that you’re all mature high school students writing for a mature audience, and that sometimes there’s just no way around that F-bomb. That being said, excessive amounts of explicit language with no indication of an attempt to moderate it will result in that work being disqualified from the contest/challenge and will be banned from being published on the website. Depending on the severity and/or frequency of the offense, the writer may be red-flagged or even banned from publishing on the website altogether.
PLAGIARIZING:
Any piece found to be plagiarized will immediately be removed from the website, and the writer will automatically be banned from publishing on the website.
WARNINGS:
At Low-Key Writing, we understand that life isn’t rated PG, and as a result, neither is some of our writers’ works. Much like with language, we ask you to moderate any graphic/sensitive subject matter as much as possible. To keep things simple for our readers, we’re asking that all writers use the same umbrella warnings at the beginning of their works. They should be written in bold and all CAPITALS at the top of the first page.
Here are the warnings and criteria for what falls under them:
EXPLICIT AND/OR OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE: if your work contains words/phrases that are not suitable for a PG movie or may be found offensive by people of certain groups.
GRAPHIC VIOLENCE: if your work contains explicit depictions of any form of violence and/or killing.
SENSITIVE SUBJECT MATTER: if your work, either explicitly or implicitly, covers uncomfortable themes like any kind of abuse, drugs or alcohol addiction, racism and discrimination, etc.

Attach your file in the e-mail (one submission per e-mail, please!) and include your name or pseudonym for credit. Please make a note of what name you would like to be referred to on our website in your e-mail.
IF YOUR WORK HAS ANY EXPLICIT LANGUAGE/THEMES, PLEASE INCLUDE ALL WARNINGS THAT APPLY IN YOUR E-MAIL AND AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR STORY!
