This month’s writing contest requires writers create a world of dystopia, like in George Orwell’s 1984. Need inspiration? Check out Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World , Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, or any book on Nazi Germany or Fascist Italy. Need a quick read? Check out the latest news on North Korea, or the events of Tiananmen Square in 1989. The sky’s the limit, so long as the society under it is miserable and the language/themes are suitable. As with all writing contests, we ask you limit your story to a maximum of 8,000 words. Submissions must be in no later than February 28th, 9:00 p.m. The Thought Police is scheduled to storm your room at 8:59pm, so don’t wait until the last minute!
Big Brother is watching you.
Good luck!
Who controls the past, controls the future. Who controls the present, controls the past” – George Orwell, 1984
